Fry Model Railway

The Fry Model Railway is a unique collection of handmade models of Irish trains, from the beginning of rail travel to modern times. Situated in the beautiful grounds surrounding Malahide Castle, this delightful collection is a treat for railway enthusiasts, children and adults alike.

The beautifully engineered models are from a collection originally built up in the 1930's to the 1960's by Cyril Fry, a railway engineer and draughtsman, with each piece assembled with the finest attention to detail. Definitely a treat for all the family!

Visit the truly memorable Fry Model Railway, where you will find a  collection of over sixty locomotives and trams on show.

Also featuring are many photographs and railway memorabilia of the past.  The  centrepiece in the hall is a four-metre model of a Canadian Pacific locomotive that was originally built by Bassett-Lowke Ltd for a Canadian exhibition in London.

Adjacent to the Fry Model Railway is Tara’s Palace and Museum of Childhood.  Tara’s 22 room Palace has been meticulously constructed by some of Ireland’s finest craftsmen and has taken over two decades to complete.  Designed and built to one-twelfth scale it encapsulates the grandeur and elevance of Ireland’s three great 18th century Mansions Castletown house, Leinster House and Carton House.
